Legal Tech Talent Network

This year, ILTACON will be held in Las Vegas for in-person attendees, while others take part from their homes or offices via live-streamed content. I had the opportunity to join ILTA’s “Know Before you Go” Q&A session to learn about the upcoming event. As always, the conference will be full of wonderful legal technology sessions and networking events. These will cover a variety of legal tech topics and address many of the specific challenges faced by law firms and corporations that were forced to go “remote” over the last 1.5 years. And for those attending in person during this COVID-19 era, the health safety protocols in place are extremely well developed and undoubtedly required a massive amount of learning and planning on the part of the ILTA staff.

Health Safety Protocols

The ILTA staff has gone above and beyond with their incredibly thoughtful health safety protocols, especially as we deal with rising numbers of COVID-19 cases. Not only are all staff members required to be vaccinated, but all attendees and vendors are required to submit proof of vaccination in advance of the event in order to gain entry.

There will be the “new normal” mask mandates, social distancing recommendations, limited-touch registrations, and hand sanitization stations throughout the venue. In addition, total event and session attendance levels will all remain under the maximum capacity by limiting event and session registration and ensuring the exhibit halls, presentation, and meeting rooms will all remain as safely socially distanced as possible. Attendees will be given a choice of colored wristbands to wear that will signal their level of comfort with social contact – from “hug friendly” to “please keep your distance.”

There will also be Mandalay Bay and ILTA staff members ready to help anyone experiencing feelings of sickness and/or needing COVID testing. The organizers even researched the cost of using an ambulance service in Las Vegas, should the need arise. They told us ambulatory services don’t typically accept medical insurance – the average cost is about $900, in case you were curious!

Suffice to say, putting on an event at this scale during a pandemic is much more complex than I could have imagined, and I’m very impressed with the job ILTA has done getting things organized.
